You have to talk with all the traders in the carribeans about powder, until they won't have to have deal with you, or until some gives you the powder. wink.gif

well, I used the console function to give info bout this quest, and it says that "here will be hearings about flute on trader:SanJuan". So I suppose that ONLY in SanJuan I'll be able to get powder?

Okay, so I'm finally posting over here for the Seaward crew to see again.

**waves** Hi there everyone. So you know, we are getting quite the lively group of posters over on Pirates Ahoy! As people start to play the game they are both frustrated by and love the game at the same time.

Something I can shed a bit of light on for you, part of the reason that you may not be getting as much activity on the boards here as you were expecting is because the game is still very difficult to fine in other countries.

It is beginning to show up slowly but surely though.

The other thing that may push folks away is the simple fact that the language barrier appears kind of steep and difficult to surmount.

Lots of english speakers have a tough time expressing them in their native tongue. When presented with a forum that there is only one or two english forums on it they get either frightened or concerned that they won't be understood at all.

Most folks that are playing are very much enjoying it. Many players and modders in the west would like to see many of the things that have been created for the Russian modifications brought over to the west.

The biggest problem that I see will be is the simple fact that the western version of the game has to program directory unlocked already and anyone can make a mod for the game. Here in Russian version the program directory is locked and unmodifiable by the average user, the only people that have access to those files are Seaward and any mod groups that have gotten permission.

For us to use the files in the west would require access to the program directory of any mod we wanted to use files and quests from.

Believe me, we want to use anything we can from all the mods that have been done in Russia, but without unlocked access to the program directory for the mods, we won't be able to translate those mods, let alone get any of them into our games without a LOT of guesswork on how things were done on our part.

Anyhow, just figured I would update you on status and look forward to hearing from you folks here or over on Pirates Ahoy!

The problem is, verry small number of users are reading this topic, so this information will probably get to 1 or 2 modding teams. I think you should try to connact them directly, but first be sure that they have permision of the Seaward.Ru to publish the unlock version of the mods.

Thats just it. Not even we have permission, nor have access to unlocked copies of any of the mod code versions.

So many folks just have to look at all the excellent mods that have been done here in Russia and ask 'Why don't we have those mods'.

All that most of us here can tell them is, 'We don't have access to major parts of the mods to add them in english because of differences in copy protection and the files that are accessible'.

We'd love to have access to unlocked copies of the Mods, but thus far have not been able to get permission for that because so many of the mods change original code from CoAS, and don't just add new files.

We are still hoping for permission from Seaward and Akella to even pursue this. From what I've understood from Dir, it is Akella that has final say on whether we get access or not.

Hello smile.gif I have a couple of problems in this city....

1. Can't enter all the temples(these on the both sides of the temple of white gods), because there's no icon to do it....
2. When I try to put something in the back of the temple of white gods I get this message "You don't have need for this item" or someething like that.

any help?

PS: I used the Show Locators option in the debugger to see if there are any for these two temples. And there are, but there are no locators for my officers... Also when I go through these locators I get no message about function.... Is it possible to be a bug inly in the western version? Can someone upload the russian locator file for Tenochtitlan?

As I remeber this is normal. You can't take your officers there.

I'm having a problem with Morgans "Belize attack" quest. You get it while playing the english nation quests.

It seems that I have waited too long (over one year) and morgan won't give me the quest.

How can I edit the time limit of that the quest? Will the changes work without starting a new game?

You can't. The quest is over. You need to start new game if you want to make this quest.

I play the english version of the game and now have 3 absolutely identical fighters wich makes PITA to identify who is who etc...
So my question is - is there a way to edit the save game (or anything else) to exchange the appearance of the fighters to some of the others existing offcers?

I understand russian so if there is a solution to this in the russian forum please just point to it.



PS. It is weird - I had registration for seaward.ru for couple of years but had to register at new.

I guess there is no solution to such "problem". You may dismiss 2 of officers, and hire other different officers.

Users with low number of posts are being deleted after some time, if they are rarely accessing the board.

damn i have a question , what quests should i start with ,? not to destroy other quests i want them all

My officers think the best heavy weapon is the Estoc and don't change it for better weapon. Is the only way to force change the weapon the hero to become a higher level?
And I have one officer wich joined with his ship. He don't give his shitty Estoc even when he is lower lvl then the hero. Any ideas?

This person is a PsHero. As I remember player couldn't change weapon of this type of NPC, even the hero's level is bigger than. Try to offer him another good heavy saber. Each NPC prefer the type of weapon in that they have best experience. Maybe this is the problem.

It's impossible.
You have to choose what nation will get your sword an ship. So after starting of one of national storyline other states will not give you any quests.
Also you should start National Line before Pirate's quests. Only this way allow you to finish National and Pirate story

I had that problem too. But when i gave them the "Tanat", they took it. wink.gif
Also as i observed, they prefer the weapon with lesser weigh if the difference of damage of those two weapons is small.

...so far so good...

BUT look at this:

What exactly is this? Is this the rate at which the enemies level up? There is no option for this in the starting screen and it seems the enemy levels are quickly falling behind the Hero when he raises in levels... Must this value be set at "5" for medium difficulty game?

Every npc. This is a part of the game system. The higher dificulty level - the higher will be all NPC level.
Sailor, if i have not forgot, the npc level is lower than player's level. On the impossible - the npc level is much higher, and they have more skills and a better equip - that's why is difficult to defeat them.
The special, quest npc - they have a static level, wich does not depends of the player's level.

Is the meaning of this that even on impossible the NPCs will receive much less experience then the player and even if they started at higher levels after some time they will fall behind? And is this true for all the NPC besides the certain quest NPC (those with static levels)?

Please!!!
The quick repair perk don't work with companions. Instead the "light repair" icon shows non-stop - and it can be activated but works as intended - only if the HP of the companion ship are under 10%; but the "quick repair" icon does not appear at all.
PS. Of course the companion has the perk and there are both planks and sailcloth. I tried changing the companion and this doesn't help; swapping the ships helps of course but it is PITA to do in the battle.


PS. Russian link is ok.


PS. Guys... you, which made the game... sorry to inform you but who translated the game from russian to english just stole you money... why this?... two quick examples:
1. There is a command in the companion commands which for unknown reason is translated as "sail away". Actually the correct text should say "Sail directly in the middle of the enemies untill you are sunk"
2. The skills of the officers translated for unknown reason "pistols". Of course the correct translation should be "Skill which allow to the officers to carefully aim so every time to shoot in the back of the Hero to prevent him from defending or attacking and this way getting him killed"

Of course this may be your fault but are you really that stupid not to see the difference between "sail away from the battle" and "sail directly in the middle of the enemies untill sunk"?

Hi all

I have a russian version City of Abandoned Ships (original) updated.

the game works fine - 1.2.3. no problems.
Now in downloaded 1.2.4.FT

Location - Inkas town Tenotchitlan - diving in labyrinth give me a black screen - only visible things a heros portrait, date, time and oxycen counter, game still running, if i go back the old location loads.

Whats the problem?

Try restarting your computer, or just leave the game.

Tried - same story

Ups - i find the solution - the underwater part have to play in lowest resolution 800x600 - this takes black screen away - considering a monitor size it was like a playing on mobil phone biggrin.gif

Spoile me pelase how *exactly* to start the quest about Sharp in the pearl villages? I talked lots of time with the officers in the both villages but nothing happens.

Is there a legit way to get Sharp as n officer?
I read a russian walkthough which actually an exploit + save/load untill the conditions are met.
So did someone found a legit way to get him?

hello guys, I really enjoy this game, but I'm stuck, I began new game with adventurer , and shipyard master gave me a quest, he told me to steal some blueprints of Corvette from marigo city shipyard master, but when i get to marigo, the master doesn't tell me anything, i went to it's storehouse or something, stole everything but couldn't find the blueprints, and i talked to the shipyard storehouse manager or whatever he is called, about the blueprints and he attacked me, can anyone help me?

Dude, the quests here are a bit more complicated than "get a job - move to the target - initiate dialog option - move back - profit"...

If you're to steal something from someone's office - what would you do? Hint: alarm systems available at that time sucked.

yeah, i know that, but there is only one chest in shipyard master's room, and It can't be opened, and in the other room, I opened all the chests but got nothing, and I talked to the guy, defending the chests, and asked him to help me get in the shipyard at night, but he began screaming and attacked me...

I thought maybe someone has done this kind of quest....

Well, why do you need to ask someone to get in the shipyard at night, when you can do that on your own? I mean, you still should put some thoughts to the matter, but I'm sure you'll be able to find a way to appear inside after the door's closed...

I did it, at last, but i have another problem... General governor of spain gave me a quest, to save 3 spaniards, who are in port royal jail, but i can't find that damned jail in town, at first I thought they were in the fort, but English soldiers attack me so i have to massacre all the fort soldiers, and it's a tough thing for me, so where should i look?

The prison is in a fort cellar. To kill all soldiers in fort it is not necessary

I never heared about second Daniel...
But if you already joined Daniel, you can get two other female officers(in Bermuda's and pirate village on Cuba taverns)

CoAS is russian version of game

patched, i use only new Soleyl mode

How it happend
I start quest in Des-Moines - Nevis - Inka town - Scull - Nevis - Queen - first D.S in crew - in one moment in South Spanish main i disaided to finish the quest, but first i visit Caracas ? - mob - tavern - church - tavern - Des Moines bay - fight (5 men ) - Des Moines - and ups quest starts again - Nevis - Scull dialog - second Queen. Then i take second Queen, second D.S replaces first one ( stats, equip shows its a second one)
i tried to put first D.S in ports office - after taking second Queen, first D.S ship disapears, diary - ships in ports data is corrupted (empty). If i make her companion, after taking second Queen i get ghoust ship - Queen (lugger, tartana) - ship icon on sea. The 2 Queens stats a diffrent.

Maybe its connected to new Soleil mode, because in France quest line i noticed this - Last mission - SR to Bas-Ter - before talking to marquise i stored SR in port office - after talking there a 2 SR, one near fort, second in port office - same men as captain. Sorry about my bad english.

In the mission in which Morgan sends you to conquer Portobelo and Panama, after the conquest of Panama the governor says that the army commandant has the key to the gold trunk and Morgan send you to find it. Where is this key or this commandant ? I have searched every inch of Panama and Portobelo, including the forts and prisions but I have found nothing.

Please help.

This key is in the chest behind(after) the fort

I've already tried that chest it's not there. There are only 0, 1 or 2 random items there.
I loaded an older save, fighted my way to Panama again, question the Governor, talked to Morgan and then searched for the key again. I can't find it anywhere this time either.
Is it a bug or am I missing something ? If it's really a bug does a workaround exists ?

I have two more problems:

1. in one mission I must find Askold's informant in Havana, but i can't find it. Askold won't tell me nothing either. I want to point that I conquered Havana for France and I don't know if this affects the mission.

2. if I land on Mosquitos Shore a guy came and wants to tell me something but the dialog box is empty and the game locks (I must close it with alt+F4). Is there something I must to to avoid this ? I'm using the english 1.3.0 version of the game.

You can find him in Santiago (another town on Cuba)
